Thalwil, Switzerland – November 3, 2016 – u-blox (SIX:UBXN), a global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, will demonstrate its new LTE Cat 1 technology as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth gateway connectivity at the forthcoming electronica, the world’s leading trade fair for electronic components, systems and applications.  http://electronica.de/

First to be featured is u-blox’s own UBX-R3 LTE Cat 1 modem technology platform, as it is used inside the LARA-R3 module. https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/lara-r3-series The module is central in a representative use-case demo of a video surveillance monitoring & control application that shows how LTE Cat 1 supports data rates suitable for video streaming in an M2M deployment. The video surveillance with bi-directional data streams provides a full end-to-end working demonstration of the UBX-R3 platform. It proves that LTE Cat 1 is capable of delivering data rates to support real IoT use-case applications that require video streaming. The demo also shows end-to-end modem functionality, delivering user data on the uplink for video streaming data and on the downlink for webcam control. Watch the video ahead of the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-WO8x1U9XE.

Alongside LTE Cat 1, u-blox will show its NB-IoT waste management demo, which brings together u-blox’s ODIN-W2 gateway and SARA-N2, https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/sara-n2-series the world’s first NB-IoT module, running ARM mbed over NB-IoT emulation to the cloud. The demo illustrates business benefits by automatically calculating the optimal route for a waste collection vehicle based on whether industrial waste bins on its route are full or not.

u-blox will also demonstrate the power of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Bluetooth low energy in an IoT architecture, which includes sensor data collection, flexible intelligent gateway processing, cloud connectivity, and full support for customer code. In two live demonstrations, the ODIN-W2 https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/odin-w2-series will read either temperature or accelerometer sensor data via Bluetooth low energy technology from NINA-B1 -equipped sensors, https://www.u-blox.com/en/product/nina-b1 and simultaneously stream the data via Wi-Fi to an IBM cloud server, allowing for real-time data visualization and analysis. The third demonstration will display Bluetooth low energy application possibilities using a NINA-B1 Blueprint and a mobile device app. The interaction between the app and module includes turning on/off LED lights, receiving battery level data, as well as showing movement across three axes.
