Team Preparing for Next All-Electric Car Race in California
March 16, 2016 – Mouser Electronics congratulates driver Jerome D’Ambrosio and the entire Dragon Racing team on a stunning victory Saturday at the inaugural Mexico City ePrix, the fifth leg of the world’s premier racing event for all-electric cars.
Mouser Electronics, the global authorized distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is a major sponsor of the 2015-16 Dragon Racing Formula E Team in collaboration with valued supplier partners Molex and Panasonic.
Loic Duval, D’Ambrosio’s partner on the Dragon Racing Team, finished fourth, helping lift the team to second place overall with a total of 102 points, and significantly improving their chances for a championship title.
It was a tight, contentious race with the lead changing multiple times among D’Ambrosio, Sebastien Buemi and Lucas di Grassi. In a close finish, di Grassi crossed the line first, followed by D’Ambrosio. But then in post-race scrutineering, race officials found that the car di Grassi drove during the first half of the 43-lap contest was 1.8 kilograms under the minimum weight of 888 kilograms. Officials disqualified di Grassi and named D’Ambrosio the winner
“It might have been the most exciting race we’ve ever seen, and we could not be more pleased with this victory,” said Todd McAtee, Vice President of Americas, Business Development for Mouser Electronics. “All of us at Mouser are elated to be partnering with Dragon Racing in a high-tech sport that is paving the way for future automotive technologies. This kind of technologically advanced auto racing provides the perfect platform to raise awareness for Mouser and our industry-leading partners, Molex and Panasonic.”
“What an exhilarating race!” proclaimed Fred Bell, Vice President of Global Distribution for Molex. “We congratulate D’Ambrosio and the Dragon Racing team on this major win.”
“This fantastic debut in Mexico City shows just how thrilling Formula E can be,” said Jeff Howell, President of Panasonic Industrial Devices Sales Company of America. “As a company that strongly supports a sustainable future, we at Panasonic are celebrating this win.”
This is the second year that Mouser Electronics is sponsoring Formula E racing. Formula E features cars powered exclusively by electric power and represents a vision for the future of the motor sports industry over the coming decades, serving as a framework for research and development around the electric vehicle, accelerating general interest in these cars and promoting sustainability.
