Another step forward in creation of high-tech modifications of smartphones has been made in Feld & Volk Atelier of mobile devices. From now on the models based on iPhone6 with a completely redesigned back panel made of two types of carbon fiber are available for clients.
Months of engineering work and technological tests have resulted in creation of the device. Apart from making changes in appearance of the gadget, one of the aims of Feld & Volk engineers was to preserve the original dimensions of the smartphone and the signal quality. «Antenna bands» have moved to the upper and the lower parts of the housing allowing to transform the exterior appearance of the device with the frame made of carefully treated black carbon. The central part of the back panel is also made of carbon, but with a different surface texture achieved with another method of treatment.
The process of treatment of carbon elements takes approximately 10 hours, it is made with a high-tech equipment in view of complexity of work with this material. Curved shape and dimensions of carbon frame create an additional technological difficulty. Similar technology is also used in creation of such watches as Hublot, Blancpain, Rebellion, etc. The housing made of carbon fiber has the strength of metal, yet it is much lighter.
«The development of this technology for mobile phones has started with one of the corporate orders for the gadget of the highest complexity», founder of Feld & Volk company Alexander Volkov says. «For this project we have elaborated technological basis, have made tests, the result has turned out to be impressive».
This modification will be one of the most expensive in company’s experience, except the jewelry projects when the cost can reach up to 10 000 USD due to the application of gold or platinum. The approximate price of «double carbon» will amount to approximately 6 500 USD.
