Designed to help achieve the next level of miniaturization, C&K’s PTS830 Series SMT top-actuated switches deliver reliable switching performance for wearable electronics, portable wireless devices, remote controls, & keyless entry systems
C&K Components, a leading global manufacturer of electromechanical switches, smart card interconnect devices, and high reliability connectors, has released a new series of microminiature, SMT top-actuated switches that provide low profile, high actuation force (450gf), and high life cycle (500,000) solutions especially designed to meet the demanding size and performance specifications required of portable electronic devices. With a footprint of just 3.5mm x 2.6mm and an ultra-low profile of 1.4mm, C&K’s new PTS830 Series SMT switches deliver reliable switching performance within the space constraints imposed by the miniaturization of next-generation wearable electronic devices, portable wireless devices, remote controls, and keyless entry systems.
“The PTS830 Series was specifically designed to address the requirements of next-generation miniature portable electronic devices,” said Gustavo Jimenez, product marketing manager at C&K Components. “In addition to the series’ small footprint and low profile, the 450gf operating force option prevents unwanted actuation, which is critical for wearables and keyless entry fobs, and the optional ground pin prevents failures resulting from the discharge of static electricity.”
PTS830 Series SMT switches are top-actuated, momentary action devices, with a single pull single throw (SPST), normally open configuration. Rated for 12VDC and 50mA, the switches are available with actuation force options of 160gf and 450gf, and with operating life cycles of 200,000 and 500,000. Travel distance is 0.15mm ±0.1mm, with a typical bounce time of ≤10ms, and rated operating temperatures for the series span -40°C to +85°C
