- Electronics manufacturer, PT. Sat Nusapersada announced its plan to produce made-in-Indonesia 4G smartphones through its factory in Batam, Riau Island province.
“Production of this smartphone is part of our effort to support the government to improve our telecommunication device industry. All this time, import dependency for such products is really high,” said Abidin, the president director at Sat Nusapersada at a ceremony for plant’s ground-breaking. Indonesia imported more than 62 million cell phones and smartphones last year, according to Industry Ministry data.
4G LTE technology allows super-fast Internet speed for video calls and video streaming without interruption and buffering. Downloading large-size files and faster surfing will be made possible. This will be the first 4G smartphone produced in Indonesia. While some established brands like Samsung and Sony have sold 4G-enabled smartphones or tablets overseas, in Indonesia, few are available.
Sat Nusapersada is an Indonesian electronic maker that was established in 1990. Originally a circuit board builder on Batam island, it expanded into smartphones.
