Bangalore, India – July 24, 2013 – To further meet market demands in the appliances industry, TE Connectivity (TE) today announced the release of the power triple lock (PTL) product line, which provides enhanced benefits to the customer. New features include an optional connector position assurance (CPA), an optional terminal position assurance (TPA), high temperature housings up to 150°C (302°F), and an upgraded lanceless contact design.
With a centerline spacing of 6.0 mm, the PTL connector system offers two optional locks – the CPA and the TPA – that ensure high performance of the product by enhancing connection stability. The CPA secures the connector to remain intact and engaged, while the TPA both prevents the terminal from backing out and ensures that contacts are fully seated in the connector.
The anti-snag locking latch on the plug housing prevents wires from becoming tangled under the latch. Both panel mount and free hanging receptacles are part of the product offering and four keying options will be available to prevent mis-mating. Future additions will include board mount headers. Power triple lock is offered in a variety of housing material choices to meet different customer requests: V0 materials in standard 105°C, glow wire materials that comply with IEC60335 and high temperature materials up to 150°C.
“The new PTL product line is the achievement of an aggressive R&D effort,” said Denise Quinnette, global power and signal interconnect product director, TE Appliances. “It is a dir
ect result of listening to our customer needs and responding with a better designed system for the global landscape. Produced with the industry’s most durable high-heat materials and engineered to achieve connection stability and reliability through multiple differentiating functionalities, the connector system is a game-changer for the appliances market.”
In addition to household appliances, the PTL connector system is ideal for products related to heating, ventilation and air conditioning, industrial machinery and lighting. For additional information on TE’s power triple lock, please visit www.te.com/products/PTL-PR
