New Delhi, April 30, 2014: Su-Kam Power Systems, leading power back up solutions provider in India, has till date, successfully installed solar power systems in over 10000 houses in 7 districts of Tamil Nadu under the ‘Chief Minister’s Solar Powered GreenHouse Scheme’ launched by TEDA (Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency).The company shall be making 2500 additionalsolar installations under this phase of the project by the end of May 2014.
Govt. of Tamil Nadu has launched the ‘Solar Powered Green House Scheme’. Under this scheme, 3 lakh houses will be constructed with solar powered lighting systems over a period of 5 years from 2011-12 to 2015-16 for the benefit of poor in rural areas.(http://www.teda.in/)
Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Sethi, VP-Solar projects, Su-Kam said, “We are pleased to work for TEDA and providethem a customized solution to harness solar energy to meet basic power requirements in rural homes. In addition to the above, TEDA has assigned us the project of installing solar power systems in 27700 additional houses in the next phase of this project.”
“With the ever increasing cost of non-renewable energy, solar power has become the most cost effective mode for generating electricity in the present times. Therefore, as part of our solar plan this fiscal, we are bullish in making solar power available to both the urban & rural segments for residential as well as commercial applications in Tamil Nadu. We are working to spread awareness about the feasibility of solar installations and make our solar presence felt in homes, offices, institutions like schools, colleges, government buildings, hospitals, commercial establishments etc. in the state.” he added
The residents of over 10000 households in Tamil Nadu who are benefiting from the solar installation at their houses in rural areas expressed their relief and happiness.One of the customers, MrMurgan from Kurinchipadi Village, Cuddalore District in Tamil Nadu said, “This decision of the Tamil Nadu Govt. to enable rural households to benefit from solar power has benefitted us immensely. We are very pleased with the quality of the installation as now we can enjoy the electricity generated by the power of the sun without any worries of paying sizeable electricity bills outside our budget.”
Another customer Mr. Ramanathan from Perambalur District in Tamil Nadu said “Prior to the solar installation, we used to receive irregular power supply which made us face various difficulties in undertaking our daily chores. However, post the installation, our life has become easier with regular power through solar. Through this solar installation, we shall also be saving on our electricity costs in the future.”
