Two channels of protection for Ethernet interfaces, CPE, Carrier Class Equipment, and PBX systems
Beijing, China, May 4, 2016 — Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, has introduced the SP4042 Series TVS Diode Array, which are designed specifically to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damage due to lightning-induced surge events and electrostatic discharges (ESD). The SP4042 Series integrates low capacitance steering diodes with a TVS diode to provide two channels of protection. This robust device can safely absorb up to 120A per IEC61000-4-5 (tP= 2/10μs) without performance degradation and a minimum ±30kV ESD per IEC61000-4-2 international standard. Low loading capacitance (11pF per line) makes the SP4042 Series ideal for protecting 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces, Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), Carrier Class Equipment, and PBX systems.
“The SP4042 Series was developed in collaboration with some key customers, who had a variety of implementation concerns, including leakage current, which negatively affects signal integrity,” said Tim Micun, product manager/TVS Diode Arrays (SPA® Diodes). “With leakage current of just 0.1µA, the SP4042 Series offers 90 percent lower leakage current than competitive devices.”
All SP4042 Series TVS Diodes offer these key benefits:
• With a peak pulse power rating of 2500W, the SP4042 Series provides excellent surge protection, ensuring the headroom needed to guard against electrical threats defined by regulatory standards.
• Low capacitance of 11pF per line preserves signal integrity and minimizes data loss while offering a more robust device against electrical threats.
• Enhanced ESD capability (±30kV contact, ±30kV air) permits manufacturers to provide ESD protection beyond the maximum level stated in the IEC standard and protects against a multitude of other threats to ensure product reliability in the field.
• Low leakage current of 0.1μA at 3.3V provides enhanced signal integrity, as leakage is often an indicator for the device ‘turning on.”
