Marcatel to transform communication network of rural India through Wi-Fi technology

New Delhi, July 20, 2016: MarcaTel, a division of LaMarca Knowledge and Services Pvt. Ltd. has tied up with Bluetown India(a wholly subsidiary of Denmark based Bluetown ApS, working in the field of WiFi technology) to provide complete end-to-end solution for WiFi data connectivity across the country. The vision of digital India movement of Indian Govt. is the driving force behind this initiative of providing affordable high speed data network into rural India.
MarcaTel aims to create WiFi hotspots by installing public WiFi towers which have range of about 1 km. Once a consumer subscribes to the MarcaTel Network, he will be able to use data resource hungry applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.
“MarcaTel using Bluetown technology will establish localized public Wi Fi – hotspots which will enable the consumers to connect to World Wide Web. Using this network as the backbone, MarcaTel aims to drive knowledge and social content to its consumers. While on one side, it aims to provide a meaningful platform for commercial advertising platform which will be precise and on target. On the other hand it will be aimed to public, about the various welfare schemes related to development.” as said by Mr. Narayanan Rajagopalan, President of Group O Lamarca.
Mr. Narayanan also opined, MarcaTel will create a Franchisee Network of Micro Commerce Entrepreneurs (MCE) who will invest in creating WiFi hotspots and thereafter sell recharge coupons to the consumers. MarcaTel in association with Bluetown will be providing technical know-how, commercial concepts and profit generating methodology to the MCE.
Each MCE will also be provided 4 weeks training by the ESSCIL (Electronics Sector Skill Council of India). In the first phase, the company plans to invest around 50Crore. These investments will be made in the area of infrastructure creation, capacity development, MCE development and Sales & Marketing initiatives.
‘Bluetown India’ already has tie-ups with BSNL for the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Andaman & Nicobar. Besides this the company has successfully rolled out the technology in rural Africa and rural South America.
