JAE has developed a receptacle connector with a screw mounting flange to add to the existing DC04 Series which is a Category 3 Approved connector which enables HDMI 2.1 features. This flange type product is ideal for improving the mechanical strength of the connector as well as reducing EMI through additional grounding.
HDMI is widely used as a standard interface for televisions and other audiovisual applications. Recently, interface connectors compatible with higher video resolutions and faster refresh rates are being required in the audiovisual market. 4K/8K satellite broadcasting has started, and high-definition video applications are expected to grow further. To cater to these trends, a new HDMI 2.1 Specification which supports 4K120Hz, 8K60Hz, and dynamic HDR format has been developed.
JAE’s DC04 Series were some of the first connectors added to the Category 3 approved connector list on the HDMI website in 2019. To support the growing number of applications with HDMI 2.1 features, a new flanged connector was developed to add to the existing flangeless lineup commonly used in smaller and thinner devices. By securing the connector to the device’s chassis or frame with a screw, robustness is enhanced while also adding a strong connection to the frame ground which improves EMI suppression.
JAE has taken part in the development of the HDMI connector specification from the early planning phase and will continuously work to expand product variations of receptacles and cable harnesses in the DC04 Series.
