Members of the Blakell Europlacer Distribution team expressed delight with the recent National Electronics Week exhibition, having left the event with a lead for a new placement machine and an AOI system from a first-ever contact with a prospect at the show. The sale was then closed the very next day.
The new Europlacer customer is active in the railway supply sector.David Howells, Managing Director of Howells Railway Products Ltd, visited the Blakell Europlacer stand at NEW to discuss his company’s requirements for pick & place and optical inspection. Howells is an independent family-owned business that has supplied equipment to an enviable list of industrial, brand-name customers servicing the railway industry, such as Balfour Beatty, Bombardier, GE, Railtrack and Westinghouse Rail Systems. Howells’ products include mission-critical power systems and LED signalling.
Howells will take delivery of a standalone ALD515 AOI system from Aleader, featuring i3D technology to trap all SMT fault classes, and a Europlacer iico pick& place platform with 198 feeder capacity and component capability from 0201 to 50mm2.
Instrumental to the order, and to the speed with which it was concluded, is Europlacer’s unique status as a manufacturer of placement platforms and a distributor of SMT process products with a full service organisation, says Andy Jones, UK General Sales Manager for Blakell Europlacer Distribution. “Our new customer was impressed with the One Stop solution this infrastructure allows us to offer. Even so, to meet a new client at a show and close the sale the day after is unprecedented. It’s certainly a first for us.”
