May 2016 – Now available in Europe through TTI, Inc., a world leading specialist distributor of electronic components, are Kemet’s T540 series and T541 series COTS polymer electrolytic capacitors. The devices offer the same performance advantages as other KO-CAP® series components from Kemet with screening options associated with high reliability (“Hi-Rel”) applications. The Commerical-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) grade capacitors are built with a tin-lead (SnPb) termination finish and offer several surge current screening options. The multipleanode design of the T541 series offers lower ESR options than the T540 parts, resulting in high ripple current capability and higher frequency capacitance retention. The recommended application derating for both capacitors is 10 – 20%, rendering them suitable for application voltages from 2.25 to 50 VDC.
Kemet organic capacitors (KO-CAP®) are solid electrolytic capacitors with a conductive polymer cathode capable of delivering very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at high frequencies. KO-CAP® devices combine the low ESR of multilayer ceramic, the high capacitance of aluminum electrolytic and the volumetric efficiency of tantalum into a single surface mount package. Unlike liquid electrolyte-based capacitors, KO-CAP® components have a very long operational life and high ripple current capabilities.
