The fair was praised by exhibitors for its effectiveness in connecting them with decision-makers and also for facilitating their business development. Mitsubishi Electric is a leading manufacturer for a variety of semiconductor and electronic devices and a loyal show exhibitor from Japan. Mr Song Gao Sheng, Senior Director of the Field Application Engineering Center at Greater China Mitsubishi Electric Semiconductor, Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics (Shanghai) Co Ltd, said: “At the fair, we met up with a number of our existing customers and also established new business leads. For us, PCIM Asia is an annual meeting ground to mingle with our clients and compare our latest products and technologies directly with those of our competitors.”
Mr Sy Jenq Loong, General Manager at Wolverine Tube Inc, shared the same sentiments. He commented: “We are a regular participant at PCIM Europe and we decided to take part at PCIM Asia for the first time to promote our brand and products to the Asian market, particularly China. The results recorded on our initial participation is astounding as a number of industry specialists came to our booth. The fair gathers some of Asia’s reputable power electronics specialists and manufacturers for information and experience sharing. The fair is great and we would not hesitate to come back again next year.”
Another exhibitor, Mr Li Yong, Marketing Director from Sinomags Technology Co Ltd, said: “PCIM Asia is a very professional event and is attended by the industry’s most reputable companies. It is a specialised fair for power electronics and related products and were delighted to have connected with high-quality buyers from BMW’s EV department, Hitachi’s purchasing department and many others in our first time participating here. For us, this is a prime opportunity to promote our company and the show enables us to exchange industry information and insights with industry experts.”
Hangzhou Silan Microelectronics Co Ltd expressed equal praise for the show’s ability to provide profitable business opportunities. The company’s Marketing and Communications Specialist, Mr Ning Fang, noted: “For our first-time joining, we showcased our latest IGBT, PIM and IPM modules and the results exceeded our expectations. PCIM Asia attracts a very specific group of industry peers which is beneficial for promoting our brand and products. Visitors to our booth showed genuine interest in our products and came up with a number of educated enquires, which also enabled us to understand market needs from end-users’ perspectives.”
Furthermore, Mr Peng Hong, Technical Sales Manager of ABB (China) Ltd, expressed: “Attended by many fellow semiconductor, power electronic, driver and other material manufacturers, PCIM Asia is a complete and well-rounded exhibition. Complementing the exhibition is the PCIM Asia Conference which serves as an important event for industry experts and specialists to share in-depth information and experiences with the entire industry. One of our representatives who presented at the conference drew a large audience that was interested in his topic. The results assured the importance of the platform for attracting professional buyers to the fair.”
For visitors, the show represented some of the best brands and one of the most diverse ranges of products and solutions available on the market. Mr Tang Haoyuan, General Manager Assistant of Kyokuto Shokai (Shanghai) Ltd, shared: “This is the second time I have invited a team of Japanese colleagues to PCIM Asia to source the latest semiconductor products. Concurrent events offered strong insight into industry’s future and product trends
Held parallel with the exhibition was the PCIM Asia Conference, one of the most important conferences for power electronics in Asia. The sector’s leading players from business and academia were invited to share their views on current industry developments and future trends. Over 50 conference papers were presented during the conference and poster sessions.
Professor Leo Lorenz, President of the ECPE European Centre for Power Electronics eV and Chairman of PCIM Asia Conference’s board of directors, stated: “I have been organising the PCIM Asia Conference at PCIM Asia since its establishment because China is a key market for power electronics and semiconductor devices. The conference is a good platform for companies and institutions to share their research and discoveries. The quality of the papers and speakers this year is very high. We maintain this quality level to ensure the conference’s influence within the market and to push the industry forward. Through interactions with speakers and attendees, I noticed the quality of the participants was also extremely high. I am very pleased to be a part of another successful edition of PCIM Asia and will continue to support this event.”
Ms Wen Xuhui, Professor and Chairman of the Electric Vehicle Committee at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Electrical Engineering, was a speaker at the conference. She commented: “I really like the format of the fair as it has both the qualities of an exhibition and conference. On one hand, PCIM Asia helps companies promote their latest products, and on the other hand, it facilitates information exchange for those in the industry. I strongly believe that the conference is influential and has the ability to help drive the power electronics industry to new heights.”
Mr Zhang Jiaping, conference attendee and specialist from Siemens Numerical Control Ltd, expressed: “Specialising in the development of variable frequency drives, I came to learn about new technologies and gain insight on new product solutions from other reputable speakers and their respective companies. I was most interested in motor drives and high-frequency converters and was fortunate enough to strike up a fascinating conversation with a speaker who gave a presentation on these technologies. PCIM Asia really is an effective and comprehensive platform offering the industry’s latest technologies and solutions.”
