OMRON Embarks on Machine Safety Seminars to Strengthen Safety at Automotive Shop Floors

Ist seminar for knowledge exchange on Machine & Workplace Safety including Robotics held in Pune

Pune, 29 January, 2018: OMRON, a global leader in advanced industrial automation, has embarked on a multi-city machine-safety seminar initiative to expand awareness on shop-floor safety amongst automotive manufactures.

The first leg of the seminar was concluded in Pune, today where around 200 experts from the industry attended the seminar which includes machine builders, auto makers and many industry experts. The key speakers gathered for knowledge sharing sessions were Rahul Lale, Associate Vice President, Bharat Forge Limited ; Apurba Bose , Senior Manager, Varroc Engineering; Pradeep Kumar Patel, Plant Head, Minda Vast Access System ; Pradeep Bhalwankar, Founder & Managing Director, Twin Engineers.

The safety seminars are curated with a view to discuss the concerns at the shop floors of automotive manufacturers and exchange knowledge about the machine safety solutions practices. Safety plays a key role in enhancing the productivity of manufacturing site and automation is a strong enabler to achieve the same.

Giving more insights on the overall objectives, Mr. Sameer Gandhi, Managing Director, OMRON Automation India, said, “Being an auto manufacturing hub in Western India, Pune holds a lot of importance for us. Omron is well placed amongst the automotive manufacturing fraternity for its automotive automation and sensors. We are now striving to popularize the safety components and services to this sector. These seminars are a step ahead in this direction. The seminar had exhibits of all key offerings of Omron end-to-end Safety solution portfolio comprising of Safety Switches, Safety Sensors, Safety Limit Switches, Emergency Stop Switches, Safety Relays, and Safety Controllers as well as niche Robotics solutions. The solutions highlighted the countermeasures in equipment and facilities and their utility in shut-out detection of mechanical guards, checking intrusion into hazardous areas, and building safety circuits, etc.

“Safety technology needs to become an integral part of every manufacturing unit not only to protect the employees from injuries, but also as a tool to increase production efficiency. This applies well to the automotive sector which has been showing the highest rate of adoption of automation technologies.” Mr Gandhi, added.

Other seminars in the series will be held at Bangalore, Chennai and New Delhi (NCR).
