New Vishay Intertechnology BiSy Single-Line ESD Protection Diodes Feature Low Working Range of 3.3 V

Offered in Compact CLP0603 Package With Low 0.27 mm Profile, Devices Provide Ultra-Low Capacitance Down to 0.29 pF Typical

MALVERN, Pa. — Jan. 26, 2016 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today released two new bidirectional symmetrical (BiSy) single-line ESD protection diodes for portable electronics with a low working range of 3.3 V in the ultra-compact CLP0603 silicon package. Measuring only 0.6 mm by 0.3 mm with a very low height of 0.27 mm, the Vishay Semiconductors VBUS03B1-SD0 and VCUT03E1-SD0 offer ultra-low capacitance and leakage current for the protection of high-speed data lines and antennas against transient voltage signals.

With their low working range of 3.3 V and low load capacitance down to 0.29 pF typical for the VBUS03B1-SD0 and < 14 pF for the VCUT03E1-SD0, the devices released today can be used for protection in low-voltage and power-saving applications such as high-speed data ports like HDMI, USB 3.1, and Thunderbolt in smartphones, mobile phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, and portable gaming systems. Due to the short leads and small package size of the CLP0603 package, the diodes’ line inductance is very low, allowing fast transients such as an ESD strike to be clamped with minimal over- or undershoots.

The devices feature a low maximum leakage current of < 0.1 μA at the working voltage of 3.3 V, a breakdown voltage of 8.5 V typical at 1 mA, and a maximum clamping voltage of 18 V at 2.5 A. The VBUS03B1-SD0 and VCUT03E1-SD0 provide transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 at ± 16 kV and ± 30 kV (air and contact discharge), respectively. The devices support reflow soldering to +260 °C for 10 s per JEDEC STD-020. The protection diodes are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.

Samples and production quantities of the new VBUS03B1-SD0 and VCUT03E1-SD0 are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for large orders.
