Prevents nuisance openings due to thermal cycling failures

China, Beijing, May 6, 2014 — Littelfuse, Inc., the global leader in circuit protection, has introduced the 463 Series NANO2® Fuse, a fast-acting, very high current fuse designed for high operating current applications. It offers greater thermal cycling endurance than the company’s existing 456 Series NANO2 fuse design, capable of enduring 1500 thermal cycles at extreme temperatures (-30°C to +80°C). This eliminates concerns about nuisance openings due to thermal cycling failure on high current applications. The 463 Series offers high-amp circuit protection, ultra-high interrupting ratings (up to 500A@72VDC), and a compact (10.1mm x 3.12mm x 3.12mm) surface-mount form factor that saves board space. Its low temperature rise and excellent temperature stability characteristics make it ideal for use in datacom and telecom equipment, such as high-end servers, base stations, power supplies, and blade computing applications.

“Blade computing and other datacom and telecom applications demand fuses with high current ratings and enhanced thermal cycling endurance,” said Daniel Wang, product manager for the 463 Series product line. “The 463 Series NANO2 Fuse delivers both with a high interrupting rating that prevents nuisance tripping due to transient surges during blade server hot swapping.”

The 463 Series NANO2 Fuse Offers These Key Benefits:
• The high current rating (15A–30A) with higher voltage up to 100VDC enables blade servers operating at higher power
• Enhanced thermal cycling endurance provides higher reliability in harsh thermal cycling conditions
• High melting i2t prevents nuisance tripping caused by transient surge during blade server hot swapping
• Surface mount fuse in a small footprint allows for greater flexibility in fuse placement on slim blade server boards
• Wide operating temperature range (-55°C to 125°C) ensures robust performance and reliable protection in ultra-high ambient temperature working environments
