Hoofddorp, Netherlands: Murata today announced what it believes to be a world’s first with the launch of a 1210(EIA) size, 3.2 x 2.5 mm 100 VDC 10 uF monolithic ceramic capacitor (MLCC) breaking the previous MLCC design barrier of 4.7 uF.
With a guaranteed operating temperature up to 125 degrees C, the GRM series capacitor, part code GRM32EC72A106KE05, has X7S characteristics and a K (+/- 10 %) tolerance. It is particularly suited for use in the 48 VDC power supply circuits of network equipment and base stations. In the past the required capacitance for these applications has typically been achieved by using two or more 2.2 and 4.7 uF capacitors. In today’s space constrained designs, the need to reduce the number of capacitors is higher as is the need for capacitors rated at 100 VDC.
Mass production commenced in June 2016.
