As electric and hybrid electric vehicles increase their share of the overall passenger vehicle market, the design requirements for the traction drives and filters becomes more demanding. The drives must become more compact, resistant to mechanical shock and vibration, and operate over longer lifetimes, both more reliably and more efficiently. Additionally, the powertrain requires specialized filters to reduce electromagnetic noise, voltage spikes, and ground currents in order to further extend the life of the electric motor and to reduce interference with communication systems within the vehicle. Join Levett and Reynolds as they discuss how to incorporate best practices and solutions into electric vehicle powertrain design. These solutions have been researched and developed by TDK’s EPCOS brand and Infineon to address the unique challenges faced in the ever-growing market of electric and hybrid vehicles.
