The Bosch Sensortec BMF055 9-axis motion sensor, available from Mouser Electronics, contains an advanced triaxial 16-bit gyroscope; a versatile, leading-edge triaxial 14-bit accelerometer; and a full-performance geomagnetic sensor. The gyroscope is range switchable from ±125 degrees per second to ±2,000 degrees per second. The accelerometer offers acceleration ranges from ±2g, ±4g, ±8g, and ±16g, and the magnetometer has a typical field range of ±1,300μT (x-, y-axis) with a field resolution of approximately 0.3μT. The 32-bit ARM Cortex M0+ general-purpose microcontroller features 256 kB of flash and 32 kB of SRAM and interfaces with the three sensors through a serial peripheral interface (SPI). The all-in-one solution eases the integration process for developers and ensures a much faster time to market.
The software component of the BMF055 uses Atmel Studio, which provides a basic setup so engineers can quickly get started with customizable programming and software development. An optional plug-in package enables easy integration of application-specific software from a precompiled BSX Lite fusion library. Combined, the hardware and software give developers the flexibility to either integrate additional software or develop application-specific sensor fusion algorithms for tablets and ultra-books, gaming, fitness, navigation, context awareness, robotics, augmented reality or other industrial or IoT-based sensor applications.
