February 26, 2019 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader empowering innovation, announced it has launched at least two new suppliers in the Embedded sector every month on average for the last two years — 54 in total. Covering chips, development tools, and design environments, Mouser’s embedded suppliers deliver the full embedded ecosystem that design engineers need to bring their ideas to reality.
Speaking at embedded world 2019 on Mouser’s stand (111 in Hall 3A) in the Nürnberg Messe, Mark Patrick, Technical Marketing Manager, EMEA, at Mouser enthused: “The embedded space is very exciting at the moment, with the convergence of key enabling technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, 5G, IoT delivered on many platforms, edge computing, Big Data and cloud computing. With the range of low cost tools and development platforms that are available today — together with the availability of crowd-sourced funding — anyone can be up and running in a few weeks.”
Providing some examples from Mouser’s near-800-supplier line card, Patrick goes straight to Google. He explains: “The Google AIY Vision Kit is a project to build an intelligent camera that can recognize objects and detect faces and emotions. Build it, boot it up, and use a variety of image recognition neural networks to customize the Vision Kit for your own creation.”
Other recently added embedded suppliers include AAEON UP, Altitude Technology, Auvidea, Basler, Design Gateway, DFRobot, Doodle Labs, Espressif Systems, Fanstel, GSI Technology, Inforce Computing, Insight SiP, Inventek Systems, Monnit, MonoDAQ, NewAE Technology, Octavo Systems, ReFLEX CES, ROBOTIS, RushUp, SensiEDGE, Sfera Labs, Sierra Monitor, Sigfox, Sudo Systems, Terabee and TinyCircuits. Mouser has added many other major suppliers, such as Micron and Marvel, that are significant players though not exclusive to the embedded space.
One of Mouser’s new embedded franchises, Medium One, provides a framework for getting sensor data to the cloud, supporting a number of different boards and giving Mouser a supplier-agnostic cloud service aimed at speeding customers’ time-to-market. Medium One’s IoT Prototyping Sandbox features highly customizable and programmatic workflows, combined with an IoT-centric library of prepackaged modules, designed to help early-stage developers prototype their IoT projects or connect their existing hardware to the cloud. Jumpstart Kitsbundle the Prototyping Sandbox with select IoT-ready devices, allowing users to more easily connect to the cloud, with hardware and firmware designed for production-readiness with cost, form factor, and application in mind.
