29 October 2013, Bangalore, India – Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, announced the new MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit for 3D gesturing systems. The kit provides designers with an easy, step-by-step approach to develop 3D gesturing systems with Microchip’s MGC3130 and electrodes that meet their specific space requirements. The MGC3130 is the world’s first single-chip 3D gesture/free space position tracking solution. The MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit is a complete MGC3130 reference system, consisting of a MGC3130 Module and one example reference electrode. With several additional reference electrode designs, the Aurea Graphical User Interface Software, and an I2C™ to USB Bridge Module, the MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit enables an easy design-in of the MGC3130 into several different form factors.
The GestIC® Technology enabled with the MGC3130 serves a wide range of applications in the computing (e.g., laptops, keyboards, input devices); lighting (e.g., lighting switches and controls); consumer-electronics (e.g., audio docks, printers and copiers); and automotive markets (e.g., automotive interior controls), among others. The Hillstar Development Kit provides designers with a path to integrate Microchip’s industry-leading technology in their applications, in the shortest possible time.
“The MGC3130 Hillstar Development Kit enables customers to integrate an advanced 3D hand- position and gesturing user interface into virtually any electronic product,” said Steve Drehobl, vice president of Microchip’s MCU8 Division. “The modular approach, with complete documentation, reference layouts, hardware and a software GUI, follows Microchip’s philosophy of providing world-class tools for the broad engineering community.”
