CYPRESS, CA ― October 2019 ― Metcal has been awarded a 2019 Mexico Technology Award in the category of Software – Process Control for its IoT Technology: IoT Gateway with Solder Agent Software. The award was presented to the company during a Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 ceremony that took place during the SMTA Guadalajara Expo & Tech Forum.
The demand for process control has never been higher as the electronics industry begins to embrace the Internet of Things and Smart Factory 4.0. Metcal introduced its patented “chip-in-cartridge technology” with the release of its latest benchtop soldering system. The information stored within the cartridge and the additional data collection in real time provide users the ability to monitor and manage their soldering process, more than ever, from anywhere in the world.
Through remote and real-time data collection and analytics, any system failures can be detected. The need to order more solder cartridges can also be predicted, and production time and operators’ soldering performance can be evaluated – all of these will prevent costly downtime.
“Digital transformation in manufacturing is advancing and we have a technology that can collect critical production data over the network and turn it into meaningful and valuable information,” said Mak Manesh, Director of Product Management. “This technology can help our customers to improve their efficiency, increase their productivity, and reduce their cost.”
The Mexico Technology Awards acknowledge the latest innovations available in Mexico produced by OEM manufacturing equipment and materials suppliers over the last 12 months.
