| What are the new highlights in the 13a announcement?The latest release R2013a introduces two new products, Trading Toolbox™ and Fixed-Point Designer™, and functionality updates to MATLAB®, Simulink®, as well as 82 other products. Trading Toolbox is a new product for accessing prices and sending orders to trading systems. Fixed- Point Toolbox is a new product that combines the functionality of Fixed-Point Toolbox and Simulink Fixed Point. One of the highlights within MATLAB is the incorporation of a new unit testing framework for the MATLAB language that allows writing and running unit tests and analyzing test results. Amongst other enhancements, Simulink has a new Performance Advisor that analyzes a model for simulation bottlenecks and provides advice on steps that can be taken to speed up the time it takes to build or run a model. Built-in support for Raspberry Pi™ and Gumstix® Overo® low-cost educational hardware has been added to Simulink. This is in addition to the existing support for LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT, Arduino®, Pandaboard, and Beagleboard. Talk about the Fixed Point Design and how it benefits the designer?Fixed-Point Designer™ provides data types and tools for developing fixed-point algorithms in MATLAB code, Simulink models, and Stateflow charts. It automatically proposes fixed-point data types and attributes such as word length and rounding mode. Designers can also specify these attributes manually.
