Vagdevi Vilas School and Tata Power solar partner to set-up 100 kW rooftop solar project
Bangalore, India; 5th June, 2015: Vagdevi Vilas School, one of Bangalore’s premier educational institutions, today announced the successful completion of a 100 kW rooftop solar plant in their school campus. Located in Marathalli, Bangalore, the plant was inaugurated by Shri. Y. B. Ramakrishna, Executive Chairman, Karnataka State Bio-Fuel Development Board, as part of the institution’s World Environment Day celebration. The school has partnered with Tata Power Solar, India’s largest specialized solar EPC player, for the implementation of this project.
Speaking on the project, Shri. K. Harish, Chairman, Vagdevi Vilas School said “We are proud to be a pro-Green institution, by setting up one of the largest rooftop projects for a school in India. This project will help our school completely meet its energy requirements, in a clean and green manner. We are glad to have partnered with Tata Power Solar for our first renewable energy project.”
Constructed over a single rooftop, the power generated by these solar panels will be enough to fulfil the school’s entire needs by 100%. This plant will be able to generate upto 1.6 lakhs kWh energy annually, and reduce the carbon footprint by almost 125 tonnes per year. The plant also comes with a grid type invertor, contributing towards better efficiency of the panels.

To help monitor the performance of the plant installed at the school, a remote monitoring system has been installed to ensure minimum disruption of power.
