MORRISVILLE, NC ¾ September 2014 ¾ Juki Automation Systems (JAS), Inc., a world-leading provider of automated assembly products and systems and part of Juki Automation Systems Corporation, announces that it was awarded a 2014 Global Technology Award in the category of Placement – High Volume for its RX-7 high-speed compact modular mounter. The award was presented to the company during a Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014 ceremony that took place at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL during SMTA International. RX-7 has achieved the top class speed of 49,000CPH (IPC9850) in a compact footprint of 988 mm width.

Juki RX-7 high-speed compact modular mounterJuki Executive Officer Bob Black commented, “We are gratified that the judges have seen both the technological advancement and the cost per placement value offered in the RX-7. Our customers have shown great excitement with the introduction of this system, and we look forward to offering great savings to the high-speed market.”

The RX-7 utilizes two of Juki’s brand new compact rotary heads (Planetary Head), capable of 16 nozzles per head. This is a high-speed chip-shooter with high placement accuracy of ±40µm (Cpk > 1) that meets the specification for production of smart phones and many other high-density electronic applications. In combination with the newly released RX-6 flexible mounter, Juki is now able to offer   greater cost efficient production lines, resulting in high yield productivity for various industries whether high-mix, low-volume or high-volume production.

The system support up to 76 8mm parts for placement, resulting in flexible and efficient productivity. It supports a self-diagnostic function that is conducted during startup and production. This improves production by giving alerts when there is a problem with the machine. For example, the RX-7 will detect a damaged nozzle that is frequently causing pick errors and report the problem.

Premiering in 2005, the Global Technology Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts. For more information, visit www.globalsmt.net/awards.
