Intel Corporation is all set to present Safehack – the curtain raiser fora hackathon campaign, to strengthen women safety in India. With an aim to create a real impact in the society, Safehack will engage coders from all over India to develop an app for women’s safety. The event is being organized by Crosshairs Communications, a top tier agency specializing in public relations and social media. Safehack is an opportunity where participants across the nation will come together and compete for developing innovative mobile app solutions promoting safety for girls and women. The idea behind the campaign is to raise awareness about woman’s safety and encourage participation from developers, engineers and coders across India. The campaign is also supported by Chime for Change, founded by Gucci in US.
Shri Narayana Murthy, Founder of Infosys, extended his support to this initiative with his encouraging words. He said, “Safehack is an important step in empowering women and motivating app developers to work for the social good. It will be interesting to see how these hackers will merge skills and technology to build an innovative enterprise app.”As a token of appreciation, Shri Narayana Murthy will also meet the members of top three winning teams sometime after the event.

Event Details
Safehack is being planned in Mumbai on Saturday, August 22nd at the Indian School of Innovation & Design (ISDI). Crosshairs Communication is getting support from various quarters in making this drive a great success, where sponsoring/supporting companies and individuals are not only getting an opportunity to support a compelling cause but also connect with the relevant audience.
For the event an exclusive panel of judges is onboard that will review and give feedback to the participants. Senior members from reputed organizations like Intel, Businessworld and Google will form the jury that will select the best apps adhering to various parameters.
Eligibility
Any individual or team that can build a woman safety app using is eligible to enter. It can be an app one has built prior to this contest or one is building now. The applicants will be screened by HackerEarth, a Bengaluru-based coding platform, that specializes in organizing hackathons. HackerEarth will zero down top 10 participating teams, who will come down to Mumbai and showcase the blueprint of their mobile app at the venue. The members of the winning teams will get a chance to meet Shri Narayan Murthy, founder of Infosys.
The prizes will include cash vouchers and goody bags from various brands. International fashion brand KAZO will be encouraging the teams by giving away beautiful gift hampers. Leading apparel and shoe brand SPUNK will also give hampers for the winners.
