Rising demand across the Education, Corporate and Entertainment sectors along with increasing government spending towards Digital India initiatives have fueled the growth of Projectors in India. Further, recent technological advancements and influxation of features such as 3D, Wi-Fi and HD have created new segments including Gaming and Home Entertainment.

According to 6Wresearch, India Projector Market shipments value reached over $100 million in CY 2015. In terms of unit shipments, Epson led the overall market followed by BenQ. Other major players in the India Projector Market are Hitachi, Sony, Optoma, Panasonic, Ricoh and Dell.

According to Anuj Mehrotra (Senior Research Analyst, 6Wresearch-India Electronics Division), “Factors such as increasing spending on Electronics, declining ownership cost and rapidly changing urban lifestyle have contributed to the growth of Projector market in the country. Additionally, growing demand for advanced projectors with high brightness level have resulted in a shift from entry-level to mid-level segment.”

projectorsAccording to Pulkit Shrivastava (Research Analyst, 6Wresearch-India Electronics Division), “Presently, IT/ITES & BPO, Media & Entertainment, Aerospace & Defense and Healthcare are the key end-user application segments accountable for the growth of India Projector Market. Additionally, advent of digital learning and growing focus on smart class concept have increased the demand for projectors in the education segment. This has led OEMs to partner with system integrators focused on the Education segment.”

Need for mobility, introduction of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and increasing penetration of smartphones have accelerated the demand for PICO projectors in India. Additionally, Ultra Short-Throw projectors have witnessed substantial growth owing to the limitation of office space and replacement of traditional electronic interactive whiteboards by Corporates.”

India Projector Market is expected to register significant growth over the coming quarters owning to the introduction of cost effective projectors by OEMs, focusing on middle-class population spread across Tier II and Tier III cities. However, lack of consumer awareness coupled with high installation and maintenance cost remains to be a major restraining factor in the growth of the India Projector Market.
