May 12, 2015 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the global authorized distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is partnering with celebrity engineer Grant Imahara and Astrobotic, the solar system’s first lunar logistics company and Google Lunar XPRIZE Milestone winner, to reveal the first of several Innovation Spotlight interviews as part of the Space Exploration Series and Empowering Innovation Together™ program.

Mouser Empowering Innovation Together AstroboticOn the set of Star Trek Continues, Grant Imahara and Astrobotic discuss the future of space exploration and Astrobotic’s new MoonMail™ program. Hear from CEO, John Thornton, and Senior Electrical Engineer, John Branthoover, on building a fleet of versatile robotic space crafts for transportation and exploration on the moon to become the lowest cost lunar mission in the solar system.

“It’s great to be able to offer this amazing program to our customers,” says Mouser President and CEO Glenn Smith, who was asked whether the future may bring the possibility to distribute electronic components to the moon. “I don’t have any doubt that will happen one day and engineers are going to need a lot of small parts, and our model is perfect for that. We are excited to partner with Astrobotic on this exciting project.”

With Astrobotic’s newly created MoonMail™ program, two lucky Mouser Space Challenge winners will receive a unique opportunity to send a personal photo or keepsake to the moon.

John Thornton, CEO of Astrobotic states, “Fast international shipping was once unimaginable, now it’s a given. We’re taking the unimaginable lunar logistics program and making it a reality. We will be sending payloads to the surface of the moon and transmit data to Earth in real time. We are pushing humanity to thrive in space in order to make access to the moon available and affordable to many.”

“Astrobotic is a key player in the Space Industry.” said Grant Imahara. “Astrobotic was spun out of Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute; these are the guys who have brought you some of the most advanced robotic lunar rovers and landers to ever be delivered to the moon. And now, they’re even letting the public get involved with sending mail to the moon!”

The Empowering Innovation Together Space Exploration Series is sponsored by Platinum Program Partner Microsemi and Diamond sponsors Vishay Intertechnology and Phoenix Contact.
