India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) and SEMI are proud to announce two landmark events aimed at positioning India as a key player in the global semiconductor industry. The Semiconductor Executive Summit (SES), co-organized by ICEA and SEMI in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) and India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), will be held on 10th September 2024 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Additionally, SEMICON India 2024, co-organized by SEMI and Messe München, will be co-located with Electronica Productronica at India Expo Mart Limited in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with ICEA serving as the supporting organization.
These events are set to attract global leaders from semiconductor companies and their ecosystems, marking a pivotal moment for India to demonstrate its growing potential in the semiconductor sector. The is a strategic initiative bringing together the world’s most influential leaders and visionaries from the semiconductor industry, alongside key Indian figures.
With countries like the United States, Taiwan, Japan, and Europe at the forefront of the global semiconductor industry, these events represent a significant step for India to join this influential league. SES and SEMICON India 2024 will serve as platforms for groundbreaking discussions, longterm vision building, and addressing global trends, challenges, and opportunities in the semiconductor space. The events align with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision to propel India’s semiconductor industry and signal India’s readiness to become a global hub for semiconductor technology.
Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA, remarked on the significance of these events: “India stands at the threshold of unshackling its immense potential in building a robust semiconductor ecosystem. The Semiconductor Executive Summit and SEMICON India 2024 will highlight the focus required to create a lasting impact on the global semiconductor industry. India has all the right ingredients, including strong policy support and the willingness to lead. Now, we need to fire on all cylinders. These events are pivotal in charting a course for India’s growth in semiconductor manufacturing, which will also significantly boost electronics manufacturing and our position in the global market.”
Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, emphasized the importance of India’s role in the global semiconductor ecosystem: “India’s emergence as a key player in the semiconductor industry is a testament to its ambition and determination. For SEMI, this is our first event of this magnitude in India, and we see tremendous potential. With the right mix of talent, policy support, and innovation, I am optimistic about India’s future in the semiconductor ecosystem. SEMICON India 2024 and the Semiconductor Executive Summit will provide the foundation to further build India’s capabilities, making it a critical hub in the global semiconductor landscape.”
Both events will gather global semiconductor leaders, industry experts, and key stakeholders to foster international collaboration and strengthen India’s semiconductor capabilities.
The Government of India has taken proactive measures to establish a robust semiconductor ecosystem. Under the Programme for Development of Semiconductors and Display Manufacturing Ecosystem in India, with an outlay of Rs. 76,000 crore, significant projects have been approved by the Union Cabinet. These include Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, three semiconductor units by Micron, CG Power and Kaynes Semicon in Gujarat, and an ATMP unit by Tata Semiconductor in Assam. These initiatives, coupled with the upcoming SES and SEMICON India 2024, are poised to catapult India into a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing and innovation.
