Washington DC, 6 March 2018 – Global connectivity supplier, HUBER+SUHNER, will display its connectivity solutions at the largest and most influential aerospace conference in the world – SATELLITE 2018 – taking place next week, 13-15 March in Washington D.C.
HUBER+SUHNER’s presence at SATELLITE comes following a successful win in the aerospace sector, after the company was recently awarded a sole connectivity contract to support the manufacture and test of a high-profile space program with over 900 satellites. The award came after major technical developments in the sector, with HUBER+SUHNER undertaking extensive work in the evolving NewSpace market. Its unique offering sets it apart from its competition, with its ability to combine its traditional space qualifications with NewSpace challenges, such as the necessity to be cost effective and optimize qualification.
“With a specific focus on miniaturization of RF connectivity, this year we will be solidifying our place in the SATCOM industry, with our proven ability to provide quality end-to-end connectivity solutions for mission critical space applications,” said Roman Buff, Market Manager of Aerospace at HUBER+SUHNER. “Performance is critical in this industry, and we love seeing our components and cables exceed expectations. SATELLITE is an important show in our event calendar and we look forward to demonstrating how our technologies can meet the needs of all critical communication customers.”
Displayed at the booth will be the solderless bend-to-the-end Minibend space flight cable assembly solution. The truly flexible coaxial cable assembly allows for an unparalleled bend radius right at the end of the cable entry, eliminating the need for additional right-angled connectors. This feature reduces cost, whilst at the same time increasing flexibility and reliability.
Additionally, the company will showcase its designed and customized push-on connector, the SMP-SL, ideal for space and critical communication applications. With a guaranteed prevention of de-mating similar to a threaded connector, which holds high broadband frequency application from 100 MHz/31 GHz, the SMP-SL is set apart from its competitors with no secondary process to engage lock during mating, solderless connector junctions to remove x-ray, and visual inspection of lock engagement.
Other new technologies featured at SATELLITE include the power subminiature (PSM) connector system. This new developed RF PSM connector allows users to handle industry standard TNC power levels in a 50% smaller and lighter SMA size envelope. SMPM based high density multi-coax connector solutions will also be on display to demonstrate how the company will support miniaturization without sacrificing on performance and reliability.
SATELLITE 2018 visitors can view the Minibend space flight cable assemblies and other HUBER+SUHNER solutions at booth #2325 at the Walter E Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C, 13-15 March 2018. Visitors are also invited to attend the “Serving connected enterprises in remote regions: Industrial IoT and Automation” presentation in Hall 201, Tuesday 13 March at 1:45PM where HUBER+SUHNER Astrolab Senior Applications Engineer – Spaceflight Hasteen Jobalia will serve as panel participant and speaker.
