Interview with Mr. Madhukar Tripathi, Regional Manager, Anritsu India Pvt. Ltd.
-
Discuss the demand and growth of A&D test equipment.
Most nations are increasing Defense budget due to increase in national security and threats from terrorism. These threats are on border, public places in peace time and nationally importance places.
All this leads to the requirement to strengthen the Defense system creating growth opportunities for defense and aerospace eco system.
Global revenues in the defense segment is expected to grow in 2016, as governments equip their armed forces with modern defense weapons platforms and next-generation technologies, including cyber, intelligence gathering, defense electronics, and precision strike capabilities.
-
Which are the key drivers?
In India, Network For Spectrum (NFS), ASCON are some ongoing project which has huge T&M demand. Apart from these projects, indigenization drive is the other driving factor for T&M industry.
-
What are your solutions for this industry?
Anritsu offers a wide range of T&M for Defense and Aerospace industry. Anritsu instruments are used in design, development, production and maintenance activity of various telecom needs of defense forces & aerospace industry.
Signal Generator MG3692C, VNA Master MS2026C, VNA Master MS2038C, Vector Star MS4644B, Power Meter ML2496A, Frequency Counter MF2412C, Site Master S332E etc. are some of the popular instruments used by Aerospace &Defense segment.
These instruments are used for RADAR & its sub system/ component design, manufacturing. Site Master is popular for cable, antenna measurement in many applications either in field or at Ship or inside Cockpit (Aircraft communication).
Site Master S820E Vector Voltmeter application is used for ILS which ensure safe landing of aircrafts. Spectrum Master is used for spectrum monitoring, and interference testing.
LMR Master™ is Land Mobile Radio which is useful for Paramilitary Forces. This is multi use test and measuring instrument – it has Spectrum Analyzer, VNA, and Power Meter in one unit. So no need to carry many instruments where space is an issue. LMR Master supports P25, TETRA, NXDN technologies which are used by para military forces during mission critical operation.
Anritsu handheld instruments like VNA Master, Site Master, and Spectrum Master are MIL standard and meet tough environment condition requirement.
-
Can you highlight trends and technologies in this industry?
Cyber security is big challenge for Defense data. Future war will be cyber based and will involve more technology than human interface. Strategic data security, cyber war/attack, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), increasing drone activities by public are some of new technological trends. This may create some security risk. Robotics will play other important role in industry.
-
What are the future prospects?
India has huge geography and lengthy border range therefore border security remains a big challenge. New technologies will help monitor border and keep nation safe. Old communication network will be upgraded. It will lead to demand of new technologies and related Testing solutions.
- Any Government initiative that will further drive the growth of this segment?
Government of India has opened up doors for private Defense manufacturing and private companies have shown deep interest for defense electronics and other manufacturing. It will drive growth for private sector supporting defense eco system. Government’s Make in India, FDI policy and collaboration with developed countries will create positive impact & will drive growth.
