Fuzzy Logix, a leading analytics software and professional services company, today announced it has formed a strategic global partnership with Teradata (NYSE: TDC), a leader in analytic data platforms, applications and services, and completed the integration of its in-database analytics library into the Teradata Unified Data Architecture.
The in-database solution from Fuzzy Logix will give customers enormous processing efficiencies and dramatically faster responses for analytic queries on any Teradata analytic platform. Using Fuzzy Logix’s advanced in-database models, companies can now rapidly build diverse and innovative analytic business applications by accessing the data that already resides within their Teradata environments. This capability is ideally suited for high-throughput, operational analytics required for activities such as identifying trends, predicting future business risks and opportunities, scoring credit and conducting online commerce.
A major biopharmaceutical company compared an in-memory, server-based analytic tool to Fuzzy Logix’s in-database analytics on Teradata. The comparison yielded stunning results. In looking at 200,000 rows of data, the in-memory, server-based process completed in more than two hours, while the same analysis on Fuzzy Logix’s in-database solution completed in less than three minutes. The in-memory process’ data limitations prevented it from completing a test involving 1.6 million rows of data, but it was completed by Fuzzy Logix’s in-database solution on Teradata in under six minutes.
Fuzzy Logix’s in-database analytics libraries, DB Lytix and FIN Lytix, contain more than 600 parallel analytic functions that work on Teradata and Teradata Aster with capabilities to reach through to Hadoop via Teradata’s SQL-H interface, making this the most comprehensive set of analytic methods for complex problems. The libraries run on Teradata versions 13.10, 14.0, and 14.10.
Users can run simple statistical analyses, Monte Carlo simulations, data mining and financial functions within the Teradata analytic platform eliminating the need to move data out of the database, and thus dramatically increasing the speed of analysis. This streamlined architecture also enables companies to seamlessly integrate on-demand analytics into their existing business intelligence tools or applications without additional interface development and training efforts.
The Teradata Unified Data ArchitectureT is an integrated analytics solution that unifies the best-of-breed and complementary values of Teradata, Teradata Aster, and open source Apache Hadoop so that analytics can be performed on any type of data. Fuzzy Logix’s support of both the Teradata and Aster platforms allows business analysts and data scientists to easily work across both environments to discover and operationalize analytics.
“Without the ability to bring the analytics to the data, companies cannot meet their need for performing deep analytics and delivering the resulting insights to the point in their business where decisions are made. This partnership gives our customers a robust in-database analytic tool from which they can realize tangible results,” said Teradata Labs President Scott Gnau. “We look forward to working closely with Fuzzy Logix in the global marketplace.”
Mike Upchurch, Chief Operating Officer of Fuzzy Logix, agrees. “We’ve spent many months jointly engineering solutions that deliver high performance, scalability and value. Together, Fuzzy Logix and Teradata deliver the largest set of in-database analytic libraries highly optimized for Teradata. Teradata will sell the Teradata Unified Data ArchitectureT analytic platforms with the embedded Fuzzy Logix in-database solution. The Teradata Center of Excellence and professional services teams will build and deploy analytic solutions using our software on Teradata platforms. It’s a tremendously powerful analytics solution.”
