Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Light India, India’s renowned fair for the international lighting industry, will return for its third edition from 5 – 7 October 2016 at the Pragati Maidan trade grounds in the capital city. Organised by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd. and ELCOMA (Electric Lamp & Component Manufactures’ Association) the show is regarded as one of the most influential events for the business of lighting technology. Concurrent to Light India, trade visitors will also witness the launch of Electrical Building Technology India targeting electrical engineering and building automation technologies from all over the world.
Together, the first unified edition of Light India and Electrical Building Technology is set to create a new force in the smart lighting and building technology sector and introduce the world-renowned Light + Building concept to the Indian market.
Light + Building is the world’s biggest trade fair for lighting and building-services technology and presents solutions that cut the energy consumption of a building at the same time as increasing the level of comfort. The platform represents everything from LED technology, via photovoltaic and electro-mobility, to intelligent electricity usages with smart metering and smart grids.
In India, the two fairs will occupy over 18,000 sq.m. of exhibition space dedicated to promoting technologies and energy-efficient concepts in commercial and residential building development. Industry titans including Philips India, Bajaj, Surya, Anchor, Crompton, Jaguar, MLS India, Havells, Trilux, B.A.G Electroncis, ERD, Orient Electricals, Opple Lighting have all confirmed their presence for this important industry exhibition. The trade fair is also expected to host international pavilions from China, Germany, Hongkong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Turkey. An additional hall has been added this year to accommodate a broader spectrum of technologies.
Alongside the exhibition, a technical conference by ELCOMA in conjunction with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Bureau of Indian Standards will take place to address core industry challenges, energy-efficiency parameters and keep professionals adept on growth-oriented industry advancements.
International delegations from Global Lighting Association (GLA), International Solid State Lighting Alliance (ISA) and the Japan Electric Lamp Manufacturers Association (JLMA) are expected to be part of this networking forum.
Early this year, the Indian government announced the names of the first 20 cities which will be developed into smart cities in 2016, under ‘100 Smart Cities Mission’. With lighting currently accounting for approximately 20% of the total electricity consumption in India, the lighting sector will have an important role to play in the smart city vision. Elaborating on this further, Mr. Shyam Sujan, Secretary General, ELCOMA said: “The first unified edition of Light India + Electric Building Technology of India is an extension of Light India. This is what the Indian Lighting Industry has been looking for under one roof for a long time. I hope Light India and Electric Building Technology of India addresses the challenges presently faced by the Indian Lighting Industry which is in the transition from CFL to LED and moving forward to smart lighting. The unified exhibition would probably have the answers to the needs of the smart cities proposed by the government of India.”
“One of the key aspects of the smart cities vision is providing smart solutions to infrastructure which will revolve around implementing intelligent, energy-efficient and home automation technologies. This opportune urban framework has called for increased networking between industry players of the lighting, building automation and architecture, real estate, construction, government and policy makers which the co-located shows offer through structured exhibition and conference format” explained Mr Raj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding Ltd.
The exhibition will target the most important visitor groups and decision makers from the Central Public Works Department (Ministry of Urban & Rural Development), Ministry of Railways, National Highways Authority of India, Airport Authority of India, Members of the Federation of Hotels & Restaurants Association, Builders Association of India (BAI) and Confederation of Real Estate & Developers Association of India (CREDAI) as well as prominent architects and interior designers who are expected to be part of this noteworthy event.
Electrical Building Technology India is a part of Messe Frankfurt’s building and energy shows, headed by the biennial Light + Building event in Frankfurt, Germany, which will take place from 13 – 18 March 2016. Additionally, light and building fairs will also be hosted in Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and China.
