SINGAPORE (July 29 2014) — FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect systems, will showcase a wide-ranging suite of IT storage connectors and high-speed I/O solutions at the Flash Memory Summit 2014. The summit brings together key technology players, including FCI, and new designs for many products in the consumer electronics, IT and industrial markets.
One of the highlights of the summit is FCI’s 288-position DDR4 DIMM sockets. The DDR4 connectors that are compatible with industry standard memory module types, now has an added advantage with its newly developed narrow latch option which sees a reduced opening from 162mm to 152mm. This greatly minimizes required board space and assists with heat dissipation. A special housing is also available allowing the trenches along the socket to be fitted with passive components.
FCI’s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and PCI Express (PCIe) storage drive interface connectors will be featured at the event. The latest range of 12G SAS/PCIe connectors supports up to 12Gb/s data transfers, and conforms to SFF8639 specifications. The high-speed serial interface is designed to be backward compatible with 6Gb/s SAS and SATA connectors. The 12G SAS/PCIe Right Angle Header at a height of 3.14mm, is highly suitable for SSDs and Interposer card option.
FCI is also exhibiting the newly released PCIe M.2 connector which features a 0.5mm pitch, 67-pin configuration with varying height options. The connector offers angled insertion of PC boards and supports PCI Express 3.0, USB 3.0, & SATA 3.0 applications. FCI’s PCIe M.2 connectors are also PCI-SIG standard compliant. The M.2 reduces PCB board space, offers a lower connector height option and operates at a higher data rate than a PCIe mini card. These features make it ideal for notebooks, tablets, desktops, and server applications.
There will be two live demonstrations at the booth. In the first demonstration, FCI’s 28G QSFP IO system shows full performance compliance to the IBTA’s EDR standards and that per the latest IBTA interoperability and compliance testing FCI’s cable assemblies show the widest performance margin of any competitive product tested. Copper cable assemblies, as well as 28G board connector and cages, are available in limited quantities upon request.
The second demonstration will illustrate FCI’s MSHD AOC’s ability to transmit PCIe Gen3 data over an optical connection to a Solid State Drive solution. FCI’s MSHD AOC is designed to serve SAS and PCIe applications with an aggregated bandwidth of up to 48Gbps.
“We are excited to participate again in this year’s Flash Memory Summit. We have a wide array of products for the IT storage environment and the summit provides us a great opportunity to engage effectively in providing next generation solutions in this market,” said Martin Ng, Product Portfolio Director
The Flash Memory Summit is on from 5-7 Aug, and FCI is at Booth 422. For more information about FCI products at the show, please visit the micro-site here or contact us at communications@fci.com.
