First to market with more NPIs than any other distributor
February 22, 2016 – Mouser Electronics, Inc. continues to experience strong business growth globally with European growth outpacing all other regions. Today nearly 50% of the company’s revenue comes from outside the USA, with all areas of EMEA doing well not only in 2015 but ytd 2016.
Overall in Europe, Mouser’s sales grew by 27% in 2015 over 2014, although this was impacted by currency fluctuations, primarily between the dollar and the Euro. Mark Burr-Lonnon, the company’s Senior VP for EMEA and Asia, believes that the European market will continue to perform well for our unique model in 2016. Last year in our key countries , we saw our German business up by 27%, UK by 25%, France by 30%, and Italy by 36% etc. “We’ve had a great start to 2016 with year on year growth already hitting +15%,” he explains. “Germany is still our biggest single country market followed by the UK, France and Italy. Our model – which is to support our online business with local offices that understand local trading conditions and can speak to customers in their own language – is paying off very well, so areas like Spain and Benelux are also returning excellent results as well.” Our internet business is exceeding over 19m product views & 220K visitors per day etc.
The high levels of design activity in Europe – no matter where the final product is eventually made – also fits well with Mouser’s role as the distributor of choice for development fulfillment. While the company sees activity in all market sectors, IoT – in various guises such as Industry 4.0, medical wearables, home automation – is particularly buoyant, so Mouser is putting a lot of emphasis on sensors, because, as Graham Maggs, Mouser’s director of Marketing for Europe comments, “the one thing that every IoT application shares is that they all need a sensor of some description to interface between the real world and the electronics processing power”.
Semiconductors, too, and the ecosystem that enables them to be deployed efficiently, is as always a continuing key focus area for Mouser. “In 2016 we will be having a major push with our key partners such as Intel TI, ADI, Maxim and STMicroelectronics”. But no matter what type of part it is, or the technology, or the application, Mouser aims as always to be first to market, supporting the design engineer and providing a market advantage. Graham Maggs, Marketing Director for Emea states : “We added 42 new suppliers in the past 14 months, and we add more NPI added per day than any other distributor.” In stock now the company has
- Over 750k components from over 500 manufacturers
- Over 170k semiconductors part numbers
- Over 12k dev kit part numbers
Another development planned for 2016 is that Mouser will continue its world class Marketing activities focused on engineers & designers this means that there will be a great deal more resources available – white papers, applications notes, technical articles and many other technical documents – to help all expedite a design efficiently, .” Currently the company has 33 microsites devoted to vertical markets and new technologies, and offers over 150 exclusive white papers and technical articles. A blog, “Bench Talk for Engineers” is written by industry experts with videos and solutions newsletters are also provided.
