Bangalore, India – 9th November: element14, The Development Distributor, is launching a new global competition to discover how engineers can ‘Change the World’ with their design ideas. The aim of the competition is to find out how the world of electronics can have a positive impact on the world we live in by challenging designers to come up with creative ideas of how they could use $1,000 of products from element14.

No purchase is needed to enter: entrants simply download their bill of materials and write a short description of how they would use the products to change the world. The competition is open to all, whether they are hobbyists or experienced established engineers.

The competition will be judged by experts from element14, with 10 finalists receiving their chosen products to the value of $1,000 to create their design. The winners will also be given the chance to spend time with the element14 team to explore the options for taking the design to production. Engineers looking to enter the competition can find more information at www.element14changetheworld.com

Entrants can choose products from element14’s broadest range of semiconductor interconnect and passive products, as well as development boards, single board computers, test equipment, tools and supplies for maintenance operations.

Ralf Buehler, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer explains, “This competition gives engineers, students and makers the opportunity to showcase their creative ideas. We are excited about the opportunity to help some of these ideas become successful projects.” Richard Curtin, Strategic Alliance Director adds, “We have a long history of supporting our customers’ development, design and pre-production requirements and this competition will help some great ideas that might not otherwise be developed to become real projects”.

At the electronica show in Europe from 8-11th November, element14 is presenting the ‘World of Electronics’ on their stand. On day two element14 are launching the ‘Change the World’ competition. More information about the competition can be found on the Design to Production booth on the stand and on the competition website www.element14changetheworld.com.

Visitors to the stand on day two will also have the opportunity to win a Robox 3D Printer.
