The United States accounts for just over 50% of the total skateboarding market. Although there are traditional skaters all over the place, doing kick flips, grinding, and riding all over American skate parks, a new type of skater has emerged in recent weeks.
Electric skateboards are finally here and they are here to stay.
Boosted, one of the many emerging electric skate companies, has made news recently as the former CEO and founder left his role to join the board of directors.
According to The Verge, Sanjay Dastoor is stepping down and hiring Jeff Russakow instead. Russakow has an impressive track record and has worked for Adobe, Symantec, and Yahoo.
“First things first,” Russakow said, the company’s new extended range battery board “is going to be coming out shortly as promised. I know people have been waiting a long time for that.”
Though Boosted has enjoyed success, the company wants to look for new ways to enhance this new-found technical hobby.
“The mission of the company is exactly the same. Fun, fast, simple transportation,” added Russakow. “The company is just doing splendiferously well, and we’re looking forward to an exciting roadmap of many new form factors of light vehicles and other cool stuff.”
According to Digital Trends, these popular skateboards aren’t just being found in more cities across the globe, they are actually small enough to be found inside backpacks as well.
The I-Ride is the newest compact electric board that is small enough to fit inside a backpack.
Another amazing feat of these technologically advanced boards is that they are still able to support an adult weighing up to 280 pounds, even for the smaller I-Ride.
“I-Ride Technologies was born out of a passion for skateboarding and a need for solving the mundane daily commuter life,” said Brad Gausewitz, CTO of I-Ride Technologies. “We live in a busy city, so eBoards are an easy, fast, and fun way to get around. They’re not just for skateboarding pros anymore, they’re for everyone — students, commuters, [and] kids.”
