Call for papers deadline of April 28 fast approaching for 43rd edition of the leading event
Gothenburg, Sweden. 18 April 2017: The European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) – the largest conference of its kind in Europe – is heading to Scandinavia for its 43rd edition this year, taking place September 17th-21st in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Co-located with the ECOC Exhibition, the annual ECOC Conference offers unique insights into the top research advances and scientific discoveries in the field of optical communications, with exciting coverage of cutting-edge basic and applied research. Divided into eight areas, the ECOC technical program covers the full width of component, system and network technologies relating to fibre optic communications.
The 43rd edition is being held in Gothenburg, a pocket-sized metropolis located on the west coast of Sweden, a leading destination for sustainable meetings in the Nordic region and what locals refer to as ‘little London’. Scandinavia – a well-known hub of innovation – consistently showcases some of the highest broadband speeds worldwide.
“We are delighted to be hosting the ECOC Conference in Gothenburg this year together with the highly successful ECOC Exhibition. With a global attendance and delegates from across five continents, we provide a unique opportunity to network that nobody should miss,” said Dr. Per O. Andersson, General Chair at ECOC 2017. “Sweden has the third fastest average internet connection speed in the world, with 94% of its population online, so we look forward to showcasing how we can replicate this success story globally.”
Along with the conference, a special two-day pre-ECOC symposium will be hosted at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen on September 14th, addressing major ECOC-related research efforts worldwide. This will include EU and overseas research strategies, and the symposium will also offer transport for attendees straight to Gothenburg after it ends.
“We have already had a huge amount of interest in this event, with keynote speakers signed up and the exhibition experiencing unprecedented demand for space. We are confident this is going to be a year of great speakers and information for the optical networks industry,” added Per.
“Gothenburg is at the heart of Scandinavia, with a characteristic flair for architecture and even the world’s best social scene – come and see for yourself!”
The ECOC Conference is organised jointly by Chalmers University of Technology, RISE Acreo and the Technical University of Denmark, with Ericsson and Telia Company as guarantors.
ECOC’s final deadline for scientific paper submissions is April 28, 2017. If you wish to submit your paper to the ECOC technical program, please submit it before this deadline. Please visit the website for more conference topics and submission information www.ecoc2017.org.
