BANGALORE, (July 9, 2013): Dr. Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra, President and Managing Director of TI India, has been appointed Worldwide Director for TI’s Industrial Systems, and will relocate to the United States. Dr. Mitra has also been named Chairman of TI India.
In his new role, Dr. Mitra is responsible for managing engineering, and marketing and applications for TI’s industrial systems, with responsibility for creating and marketing system solutions designed to grow TI’s position in the diverse industrial market.
Santhosh Kumar has been appointed the new Managing Director for TI’s operations in India. He will relocate back to India from the U.S. Santhosh Kumar brings a blend of experience in business, engineering and customer relationships to his new role as Managing Director.
Prior to this announcement, Santhosh Kumar was responsible for leading TI’s C6000 video and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) product teams. In this role, Santhosh Kumar worked with various global customers and engineering teams to grow TI’s ADAS business. He has also held several R&D leadership roles in TI India.
These changes are effective immediately.
About Dr. Mitra
Dr. Mitra joined TI in 1986. After leading several activities in TI India and in Dallas, he was appointed Managing Director of TI India in 2001 and was named President and Managing Director in 2009. In this role, he has grown all of TI India’s analog and embedded processing portfolios, successfully led the sales and marketing teams, expanded the impact and reach of the University program and started the Kilby Labs research center in India.
Dr. Mitra was elected an IEEE Fellow in 2010. He is a past Chairman of the India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) and a past President of the VLSI Society of India. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering and a Ph.D in Computer Science and Engineering, both from India Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. Dr. Mitra also earned an executive MBA from the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Mitra is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kharagpur and the Dean’s Award for Excellence from the University of Texas, Austin.
“Over the past several years, Dr. Mitra has effectively led and significantly grown many key activities across multiple businesses of TI that have made TI India a critical R&D center for Texas Instruments,” said Greg Delagi, TI’s Senior Vice President for Embedded Processing. “As he now relocates to the U.S. to lead TI’s focus in the worldwide industrial systems area across multiple regions, his teams will have the benefit of his vast experience in leading semiconductor R&D, as well as sales & marketing. The TI India team will also benefit from Dr. Mitra’s guidance and leadership as he assumes the additional role of Chairman, TI India.”
About Santhosh Kumar
Santhosh Kumar joined TI in 1995 and started the performance audio team in India. He then assumed the leadership of the ASP applications team and later led India’s software and DSP design teams. Santhosh Kumar has also served as the Manager of the Software Centre of Excellence in India and previously led the worldwide software team for the Sitara™ family of processors, before moving to the U.S.
Santhosh Kumar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Calicut and a Master’s degree in Software and Systems from BITS, Pilani. He is also a TI Senior Member Technical Staff (SMTS).
