Training for the upcoming Marathon season has already started. ASICS the True Sport Performance brand, is the only brand in India to provide the chance to get your foot analysed through ASICS Foot ID Static and Dynamic. This is a Biomechanical analysis that can help you decide the right kind of shoe which suits your running style and help improve your running. The analysis is divided into two steps namely:
STEP 1- FOOT ID static:
FOOT ID’s static component works with a 3-D foot-scanning device equipped with 4 lasers and 8 cameras. It enables highly accurate foot measurements down to the millimeter. The system derives those foot measurements that are relevant for finding the right fit – and thus for selecting the right shoe – from a set of anatomical markers. In a first step, the shape and bone structure of the foot are measured with the runner in standing position.
Seven measurements are taken on each foot, including foot length, ball girth, instep and arch height, the heel’s width and angle, as well as the toe angle. The system then calculates and analyzes the foot’s contact area with the floor and creates a two- dimensional rear view of the heel angle.
A special software application processes the captured data and compares them with a reference foot database containing more than 5,000 individual foot data sets.
The software is able to instantly visualize any deviations from average values or the ‘model foot’, and quickly identifies measurements that could be critical for a runner.
STEP 2- ASICS FOOT ID dynamic:
The ASICS FOOT ID dynamic component combines an exercise treadmill, a high-performance camera shooting rear views of the foot, proprietary software and specially designed testing shoes equipped with markers for accurate movement analysis.
Initially, the camera is used to record the runner’s movements on the treadmill. Runners wear specially developed (neutral) shoes that exert the least possible impact on natural motion, enabling an improved gait analysis. The operator then specifies the foot’s rotation in the foot flat phase and the point of initial ground contact during the gait cycle, taking heel strike and foot rotation during heel-to-toe rolling into account.
The software calculates two angles that are of critical importance for foot and lower leg biomechanics. One of them is the heel angle, as it gives a good indication of the foot’s stability during the highly dynamic heel-to-toe movement.
The calculation is based on a proprietary ASICS method specifically developed to enable the best possible assignment of the individual gait type (neutral runner, underpronator, overpronator) to a shoe from the ASICS product range.
Based on this analysis you can try on shoes that match your pronation pattern. A correct shoe type will counter-balance over pronation or under pronation, thus helping to reduce the risk of injury and improving running efficiency.
So head to the nearest ASICS store and get your Gait Analysis done to chose the perfect shoes for yourself this season.
