Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (Ota-ku Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Kuriyama, hereinafter “Alps Electric”) reached a settlement regarding the administrative proceedings against Dong Guan Tai Twun Electronics Co., Ltd., in China (hereinafter “Dong Guan Tai Twun Electronics”), which was pending in GuangDong Intellectual Property Office.
Our company instituted administrative proceedings against Dong Guan Tai Twun Electronics in August 2009 with GuangDong Intellectual Property Office. The complaint claimed that Dong Guan Tai Twun Electronics infringed the patent on connectors used on cards and requested an injunction to stop the accused from manufacturing and selling the patented product. Dong Guan Tai Twun Electronics admitted to involuntarily violating the patent for connectors used on cards (Chinese Patent Number: ZL02141063.1) and agreed to pay restitution and cease the infringement of patents owned by Alps, as well as to discard all infringing articles, related facilities, and molds. The company also agreed to publish a letter of apology in a newspaper issued in the Dongguan area. Consequently, the administrative proceedings on this matter ended after this agreement was reached.
