AMD India has established a collaboration with the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID), an incubator affiliated with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, to support the growth of semiconductor start-ups in the country.

As part of this collaboration, AMD will extend a grant under its CSR program to AAGYAVISION, a deep-tech start-up incubated at FSID. AAGYAVISION is focused on creating advanced imaging and sensing technologies using semiconductors, radar systems, and artificial intelligence.

Speaking about the grant, Jaya Jagadish, Country Head, AMD India, said “At AMD, we believe true innovation stems from collaboration and a strong ecosystem. By joining with FSID and supporting start-ups like AAGYAVISION, we re-affirm our commitment to nurture deep-tech entrepreneurship in India. By supporting visionary ventures that combine semiconductors and AI, our goal is to help develop new technologies that can make a real difference in various industries. This initiative reflects the broader AMD mission to advance high-performance, energy-efficient computing while fostering inclusive growth and long-term value for the communities we serve.”

“India is building a world-class semiconductor ecosystem, driving advancements in electronic design and manufacturing. FSID is proud to support deep-tech R&D by incubating start-ups like AAGYAVISION at the Indian Institute of Science in alignment with the country’s semiconductor mission,” said Professor B. Gurumoorthy, Director, FSID.

AAGYAVISION’s full-stack solution includes a custom-designed chip, radar hardware, and software algorithms optimized for real-time control and signal analysis. These next-generation radars are designed to operate in all-weather and low-light conditions and support multi-frequency band operation, enabling accurate object classification and robust civilian security applications. By generating and analysing large volumes of high-fidelity data at the edge, the technology will help meet the complex demands of future 6G sensor networks and smart infrastructure systems.

Speaking on the occasion, Suchismita Banerjee, CEO, AAGYAVISION, said “We are grateful to AMD for giving us the grant to fund the research. We are looking forward to working with AMD mentors, whose expertise in edge computing systems will allow us to improve our solutions”.

AAGYAVISION will soon commercialize this advanced radar-on-chip technology, developed after seven plus years of research at IISc. The Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) device will significantly enhance radar resolution while maintaining low power consumption and cost efficiency, critical for edge sensing and computing applications.
