PANIPAT: In an effort to ensure effective identification of various prohibited luggage hidden in the luggage in the midst of growing threats, advanced X-ray scanners have been installed at various locations of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) across Delhi & Haryana check baggage being carried by visitors.
Vehant Technologies, a pioneer in Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) based security surveillance has installed advanced AI based X-Ray Baggage Scanners (XBS) at various locations of IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) in Delhi and Haryana. The auto-detection feature can identify explosives, SIM cards, mobiles, etc, concealed in the baggage. The older machines could not pick up banned items, making these easier to smuggle. The machines, equipped with artificial intelligence, will have the auto-detection feature to pick up banned substances, unlike the older ones that sound the alarm, leaving it to the guards to conduct a manual search.
Three X-ray baggage scanning machines have been installed at IOCL Panipat, 1 machine at IOCL Brijwasan, 1 machine at IOCL Tikri.
X-ray baggage scanning machine will provide reliable inspection of tightly packed items and operators will spend less time on inspection thus increasing the effectiveness of operations. Operators will be able to identify materials, recognize objects and isolate hazards quickly and accurately. Operators will be able to spot potential and actual hazards and false alarms will be reduced. Artificial intelligence technology used in such machines addresses challenging tasks more effectively and efficiently than can be done through human perception.
Kapil Bardeja, Co-Founder & CEO, Vehant Technologies said, “The machine will benefit premises operators in ensuring satisfactory levels of accuracy in object recognition, identification and classification. This will assist operators in quick operations to check prohibited items inside the premises. We are talking to all government and non-government organizations outside Haryana and hope that soon these machines will be installed in more places so that there is no lapse in security.”
During scanning, the newly installed large size monitors with high-resolution images will ensure quick and high-speed assessment of any explosive, weapons threats, etc. In addition, baggage inspection will be able to penetrate X-rays up to 35 mm thick steel plate. A modified X-BIS system will have manually adjustable and extendable incline conveyor belt systems, which can be lowered during baggage loading and also at the time of output.
The indigenous manufacture of high-quality X-ray scanners has come as a blessing to Indian airports as earlier wait was too long, after placing the orders. The indigenous manufacturers will help overcome delays in the import of X-ray scanners and do away with the issues concerning maintenance of the equipment.
