Over 50,000 visitors expected at ACREX India 2014
27 February, 2014: The HVAC&R sector is exploring ways to balance industrial growth with environmental responsibilities and the efforts made by this industry are clearly visible at ACREX India 2014. Organized by the Indian Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) and managed by NuernbergMesse India, ACREX India 2014 has become South Asia’s largest exhibition on Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Refrigeration and Building Services.
The three day event, ACREX India 2014, scheduled to take place from 27th February to 1st March, 2014 would be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event was inaugurated today by Mr. Dipak Barma, President, ISHRAE; Mr. Ashish Rakheja, Chairman, ACREX India 2014; Dr. Prem C Jain, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council, Mr. Amit Goel, Convenor, ACREX India 2014; Mr. Nirmal Ram, National President Elect, ISHRAE; Mr. Sanjay Gupta, President, Delhi Chapter of ISHRAE and Mr. Thomas Schlitt, Director International Sales & Business Development. A curtain raiser to mark the beginning of ACREX India 2014 was held on 26th February. The event saw participation from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy where Mr. A K Tripathi, Director, MNRE, Government of India also attended the event.
The expo being endorsed by ASHRAE and is also being supported by international industry bodies like UNEP, REHVA, KRAIA, AHRI & CAR. ACREX India 2014 has taken a giant step this year towards reducing carbon footprints, aiming at being a Carbon Neutral exhibition, a first, for any society or event in India.
Mr. Ashish Rakheja, Chairman, ACREX India 2014 said, “The major thrust of the event is towards promoting eco-friendly technologies and increasing awareness about energy efficiency, which will enable one to undertake counter measures to prevent Carbon emissions. ACREX India has grown rapidly over the last few years, and this year’s expo focuses a lot on International participation. Besides participation from more than 25 different countries including Belgium, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, The Netherland, UK, UAE and Ukraine, the expo hosts country pavilions from USA, Germany, Korea, Italy and China. With more than 400 companies exhibiting at the expo, industry-leading companies like Kirloskar, United Technologies, Carrier, Blue Star, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Intertek, Danfoss, LG, VK Building Services and Blue Star are displaying their latest innovations and technologies at ACREX India 2014.
Giving an insight into the industry, Mr. Dipak Barma, President, ISHRAE, said, “The Indian heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) market is expected to grow by 30 per cent to over Rs 20,000 crore over the next two years, mainly due to an acceleration in activity in the infrastructure and the real estate sectors. Between 2005 and 2010 the HVAC sector has grown to be a 10,000 crore industry, and has already notched up numbers currently, in the region of Rs. 15,000 crores. As sectors like retail, hospitality, health-care and commercial services or special economic zones (SEZs), all require HVAC systems, the HVAC market is expected to grow by 15-20 per cent year-on-year.”

ACREX India 2014 is hosting a series of workshops and conferences with leading experts, academicians and technocrats from across the globe. The workshops are focusing on interesting topics like Cool Thermal Energy Storage in the Era of Sustainability, Geothermal Systems – Design Considerations, Energy Security – Renewable or Hydrocarbon etc. Representatives from the companies like JLL, CISCO, AECOM, Raheja Developers, Blue Star, CB Richard Ellis etc. also shared their expert opinions.
