New Artesyn Embedded Technologies 200 W DC-DC Converter for Telecom and Computing Applications Offers up to 94.5 Percent Efficiency
HONG KONG [18 March, 2015] — Artesyn Embedded Technologies launched the AVO200 series dc-dc converters, which offers telecom and networking equipment manufacturers up to 94.5 percent efficiency. The first two models in this new series of 200 watt fully-regulated 1/8th brick dc-dc converters address the key 12 V and 5 V needs of communications installations. They are ideally suited to cost-sensitive, small space, high current and low voltage applications, such as wireless, optical, or access networks, or server and computing infrastructure.
AVO200 series converters accept the telecommunication standard wide input range of 36 to 75 Vdc. The 12 V model delivers up to 16.7 A output current, while the 5 V model provides up to 40 A output. They offer excellent thermal performance in an operating range of minus 40 to 85 degrees Celsius and are available in either open frame or baseplate design, allowing for optimized conduction or forced airflow cooling.
A range of special features makes Artesyn’s new AVO200 series converters easy to design and deploy, including low ripple and noise, fixed switching frequency, high capacitive load capability, pre-bias start-up capability, output voltage remote sense. All variants are fitted with through-hole terminations. The new converters are protected against overcurrent, over-temperature and over-voltage conditions. They also have an enable pin on the primary side of the converter and remote-sense features and output voltage adjust function on the secondary side. The industry-standard eighth-brick outline measures 58.4 x 22.9 x 9.6 mm (2.3 x 0.9 x 0.378 inches) for open frame and 58.4 x 22.9 x 12.7 mm (2.3 x 0.9 x 0.5 inches) for baseplate.
