Taipei, June 4, 2014 – STMicroelectronics , a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, announced that Francois Guibert, Executive Vice President and President of ST’s Greater China and South Asia Region, will speak at the COMPUTEX Taipei 2014 IoT Forum on the Company’s offering and strategy for the Internet of Things (IoT), describing how to “augment” everyday objects to make them smart and connected.
According to Gartner, the IoT market, which excludes PCs, tablets, and smartphones, will grow to 26 billion units installed in 2020, representing an almost 30-fold increase from 0.9 billion in 2009. Gartner predicts IoT product and service suppliers will generate incremental revenue exceeding $300 billion, mostly in services, by that time, resulting in $1.9 trillion in global economic value-add through sales into diverse end markets.

In many ways, the IoT is the hardware counterpart to the software “app” market and is unleashing a new wave of creativity in many differentsegments.
At his COMPUTEX keynote, Guibert will also describe the building blocks required to drive IoT and how ST’s portfolio of smart sensors, embedded processing, connectivity, analog, and power solutions, as well as the Company’sbroad ecosystem makes it easy to develop new ‘things’ that are smart and connected.
