Andhra Pradesh / New Delhi, 06th June 2025 : Various Indian states such as Tamil Nadu, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh are coming up with their own policy for encouraging components manufacturing in their respective states.
In a high-level industry event, Shri Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, MeitY, emphasized the Government of India’s commitment to fostering domestic electronics manufacturing through a hybrid scheme which offers Capex support and turnover linked incentive for components manufacturing. He appealed that states have to play a proactive role in this mission of making India a component manufacturing powerhouse for the world.
In a significant move to position Andhra Pradesh as a premier destination for electronics manufacturing, Shri Bhaskar Katamneni, Secretary, IT&EC, Government of Andhra Pradesh unveiled the draft Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy to encourage manufacturing of electronics components in the state.
Shri Bhaskar Katamneni, Secretary, ITE&C Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, stated that “We are not only promoting Ease of Doing Business but also enabling the ‘Speed of Doing Business’. Andhra Pradesh is crafting a more competitive and agile policy framework compared to the national landscape.”
He announced that the Andhra Pradesh-Electronics components manufacturing policy will be notified in the next 10 days. Additionally, he also discussed on the draft policy and its offerings:
- Catalysing investments across the component manufacturing value chain through 50% capex support for components manufacturers in the state.
- Turnover linked incentives doubling the centre’s incentives
- Building specialized infrastructure and plug-and-play clusters
- Enabling talent development, skilling and R&D support
Industry leaders, including Mr. Pankaj Sharma, President, Dixon Technologies, and Mr. Nitin Bajaj, COO, Neolync, shared positive experiences operating in Andhra Pradesh and lauded the state’s enabling ecosystem and policy support.
Collaborative Vision for India’s Future in Electronics
“On this workshop, Mr. Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA said that states should work together, leverage the centre’s scheme for encouraging domestic manufacturing of electronic components to make India a global hub of components manufacturing. He reiterated that now is the high time that industry should proactively resolve for high domestic value addition in the country and build a robust supply chain for electronics manufacturing.”
This announcement was made during a high-level Investment Promotion Workshop at Tirupati, organised by ICEA & Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt. of India to create awareness regarding Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). The workshop was attended by senior government officials from the Ministry of electronics, govt. of India, government of Andhra Pradesh along with numerous electronics manufacturers, industry leaders, and other stakeholders of the electronics ecosystem.
