Manufacturers’ Association for Information Technology (MAIT), the apex body actively representing ICT Manufacturing, Training, IT, Design, R&D and associated services sector, hailed the Uttarakhand government for supporting the IT hardware manufacturing in the state.
The Government of Uttarakhand in its budget for the year 2013-14 had proposed that CST exemption for IT hardware manufacturers having manufacturing facilities in Uttarakhand be extended for another two years.
Felicitating the key state government officials—Mr. Subhash Kumar, Chief Secretary, Smt. Radha Raturi, Principal Secretary-IT and Shri. Rakesh Sharma, Principal Secretary-Finance & IDC, Mr. J V Ramamurthy President, MAIT said that the decision to extend the CST exemption till 2015 in the State will not only help strengthen local hardware manufacturing, but it will also go a long way in attracting more investment in this sector in Uttarakhand.
It is important to note here that, the notification issued by the State Government in July 2011 pertaining to CST exemption for IT Manufacturers in the state expired on 31st March 2013.
Uttarakhand has emerged as a young state looking forward with a focus on industrial development with special reference to information technology. Following a representation from MAIT and the respective manufacturers in the state, the Government of Uttarakhand decided to extend this exemption for two years.
