New Delhi: The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), council for skilling in electronics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kaushalya – The Skill University, under Government of Gujarat, to develop a roadmap for skilled manpower around futuristic technologies. The MoU will majorly focus on working together to create industry-led skill centres promoting skilled manpower in the electronics sector with special focus on drone technology and other emergent technologies. This includes Training of Trainers (ToT), under the NSQF standards and develop of course and programs relevant to industry standard. It is to be noted that the MoU has been signed for a period of 5 years. The MoU was signed in Ahmedabad by Dr Abhilasha Gaur, chief executive officer of ESSCI, and HR Suthar (IAS), Registrar of Kaushalya – The Skill University in the presence of senior official of the ESSCI and university.

ESSCI has learnt that with a fast-growing sector for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), India is estimated to develop a multibillion-dollar industry of drones in the next decade. ESSCI cited many factors for the growth of the Indian drone market including the draft Drone Rules 2021, which were released in July 2021 by the Ministry of civil aviation. The drone technology is being rapidly adopted as its potential and applicability in multiple industries and domains, including commercial entities, individuals, armed forces and government organisations is being recognised. Dr Abhilasha Gaur, COO, ESSCI said that 2022 will be a breakthrough year for adoption and will witness widespread usage of drones. “2022 will be the year in which the hockey-stick upcurve in large scale usage of drones in India will happen, upon the strong foundation of the Drones Rules 2021, the UTM policy (a draft policy for UAV Traffic Management (UTM) Ecosystem) and more,” she said.  “Under this partnership, ESSCI and Kaushalya – The Skill University will combine their efforts in developing the drone ecosystem in the country. ESSCI will support Kaushalya – The Skill University to establish close linkages with the industry to understand the evolving trends which will help evaluate the future of drone application and its related courses. The MoU also outlines the creation of a credit framework for competency-based skill training,” further she added.
