Anritsu Corporation (President Hirokazu Hamada) is pleased to announce that Rakuten Mobile, Inc. has adopted Anritsu’s 5G NR test solution for 5G New Radio (5G NR) acceptance tests.
Anritsu has already been supporting acceptance tests for Rakuten Mobile 4G devices, leading to this new decision to adopt the 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR and Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A for implementing protocol and RF acceptance tests of the latest 5G NR devices. Rakuten Mobile will be using these Anritsu test solutions to implement inspection tests of devices with built-in 5G NR technology (carrier acceptance tests).
Anritsu has partnered with Rakuten Mobile to promote strengthened ME7834NR and MT8000A performance and functions supporting acceptance tests for a wide application range, including their 5G smartphones, communications modules, and chipsets.
Anritsu is focusing its efforts on future development of the ME7834NR and MT8000A to help cut development costs for 5G NR terminals and improve service quality, supporting early rollout of new commercial 5G NR communications services.
5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR
The 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR is a test platform that conforms to 3GPP TS 38.523 complied Protocol Conformance Test (PCT) and Carrier Acceptance Testing (CAT) on both 5G NR Standalone mode (SA) and Non-Standalone mode (NSA).
When combined with Anritsu’s new OTA RF Chamber MA8171A and RF converters, the ME7834NR covers the sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G frequency bands.
The ME7834NR has been designed based on ME7834LA that supports existing LTE, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), LTE-A Pro, and W-CDMA. The existing system users can upgrade smoothly to the 5G compliant system making use of the proven LTE-A test environment.
Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A
The Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A test platform is for development of the latest communications technologies, such as wideband signal processing, beam forming, etc., required by 5G systems. It simulates base station operations to test the performance and functions of 5G terminals and chipsets now in development. Both the Sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands used by 5G are supported using one MT8000A, while combined use with a radio-wave chamber also supports mmWave signal quality and communications protocol tests in an Over The Air (OTA) environment.
